Seasons of change

There are two seasons that indicate change the one is spring and the other is autumn. The one change in season indicates growth the other rest! It is autumn in South Africa wind blowing, leaves falling, a change in the air.  I recently had a conversation with a good friend of mine we were discussing a particular storm that entered his life and he said that he is tired of other peoples leaves blowing into my garden and I have to clean it up.

This made me think, maybe autumn is the time to clean up all the leaves that other people have blown into our soul, so that coming winter we can rest. I don’t know if you are like me

These find their ways into my mind and I keep thinking about it over and over again. This becomes like a toxic refrain swirling around in my head.   Autumn, time for change, time to rid myself of these leaves floating in my soul.

How do we do this?

  • Firstly, realize that these words are loose, unconnected literally dead leaves that has indeed flown into my soul – my inner space.

  • Secondly, no matter how colourful and pretty these words may seem, they do not belong in my mind or my heart – make a decision – to get rid of it.
  • Thirdly – Sweep it up. How do we sweep up words in our heart and our mind – we put it on paper – all these negative things that is cluttering up your soul – let it out, write, paint, draw.
  • Lastly – bin it – you have swept it up – do not keep it, burn it, tear it up, get rid of it. Keep reminding yourself that you have

Now enter into rest – without the word of negativity clouding your soul.
