Spiritual Discipline of Bible Reading

(Psalm 119:105) “Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light for my path.”

We use a map (GPS) to guide our path so that we know which way to go. The Bible is the map that helps us to know how to live our lives so that we may become more like Jesus. By reading the Bible every day, we will learn more about God.

(Luke 11:28) “Blessed are those who hear the word of God and keep it!”

When doing Bible study asks the following questions: Who is the author of the text? What is the focus of the text? How/what can I learn from the scripture?

  • We honour God by taking the time to see what the Bible says.
  • Study the Bible with purpose.
  • Study the Bible in submission to the Holy Spirit.
  • How do I obey the Word?

God, we thank you for giving us the Bible to use as our compass about life.

Amen
