My blogs goes around finding inspiration to be an inspiration in your sphere of influence. My previous blogs was being an inspiration and how to stay or become inspired. This blog is more personal in nature. I was unsure to share this as this reflects so much of me.
We are Scottie Terriers Fans, and have no less than 4 of these adorable, lovable and EXTREMELY headstrong doggies. Two of our Scotties are rescued animals and the one I am going to write about name is Oupatjie. We found him next to the side of the road extremely neglected and abused. This was 7 years ago – he has taught us one can recover from extreme abuse and live a full and active life.
But alas, he is now fighting terminal illness. He has been diagnosed with a serious liver condition and this causes him a great amount of pain and distress.
Now, I love my dogs, and I believe we should take good care of them as best as possible so with a very heave heart we set out to the vets – sure that the vet would recommend that we should put him to sleep. The vet took one look in Oupatjie’s eyes and said – look at his fighting spirit! He is not yet willing to give up on life, so we should not give up on him!!!!!
Ladies, I can’t tell you how that has impacted me personally. The way Oupatjie is fighting this illness, the positive attitude that he gets up with every day.
Oupatjie have taught met the following:
- We don’t give up just because the journey gets harder.
- We don’t let pain (spirit, soul or body) influence our attitude towards others.
- Live life!
- Find enjoyment in simple living.
- Let our actions testify our faith.
I would like to share two Bible verses that serves to inspire:
2 Chronicles 15:7 (KJV)
Be ye strong therefore, and let not your hands be weak: for your work will be rewarded.
2 Timothy 1:7 (NIV)
For the Spirit of God gives us does not make us timid, but gives us power, love and self-discipline.
I have learned from my dog that inspiration and motivation can come from the strangest places. I believe that it is time to open our eyes and look at our environment and discover inspiration in the most unique of places. I am looking forward to hear from you and the places where you have discovered your inspiration.
